Broward County Convention Center Expansion and New Headquarters Hotel, Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Winning competition entry for a new 1.3 million sf expansion of the existing convention center complex in Fort Lauderdale, Florida located on the inter-coastal waterfront. The complex includes new convention and meeting facilities, a 1000 room headquarters hotel with significant meeting spaces and retail at the ground level with public open space that connects the waterfront. This new campus creates an interconnection of public space horizontally and vertically though out the entire complex with upper level terraces that allow views of the Atlantic Ocean. The Convention center  is directly connected to  Cruise ship terminals adjacent to this complex. The project emphasis on dynamic connection with public open space to leverage this location and create the social discourse and activities that returns the spirit back into the community that has long been absent.
