Urban Paradox, Chicago, IIT

The Studio investigated the alignment of new urban infrastructure that promotes the natural growth of new urban districts that together perform at the highest criteria of social, environment and economic outcomes. It tested notions of critical density looking into high rise hybrid model versus medium to low-rise solutions. It studied how infrastructure can reinforce Urbanism beyond operations and service and through multi-tasking. It proposed master plan and design for two comparative cities with similar 60 acre sites, Chicago and Sao Paulo Brazil, developing new approaches to urban regeneration focused on economies, residential inclusiveness and ecology, creating sustainable urbanism as model for future growth. Students travelled to Sao Paulo, Brazil.
